well as most of you know, i took care of my timing chains and oil pump. now i think my front main seal is leaking.....

problems:

the passenger side of my engine bay is covered in fresh oil
im going through 3.5 quarts of oil in a week
and im burning oil (i cant tell if its burning off the block or in the cylinder)

anyway, do i need to take off the timing covers again or can i get away with taking off the crank pulley and removing it with the timing cover attached? also, if the car is on for a long period of time i can start to hear a squeeling noise like a belt and there is funky smell. both started like 2 weeks ago

eat me.
All you do is remove the pulley. I have a coupe front main seals brand new laying around if you need one.

maybe, like i used white lithum grease and put it in straight and even. the FSM said to use your finger and lube it with white lithium grease or oil which is what i did. so i dont even know why its leaking

i might take it over to verve or r/t tuning. cause im not working at a shop anymore so i dont have the tools to mess with it again

Sounds like more then a front main seal leak to me. If It was front main the whole front of the engine would be cover in oil not just the right side.

did you put a new seal in when you took the front cover off? If not... then you should have.

scott - yes i put in a new seal.

countrydave - the block has oil spray all over it. the right side of the engine BAY is covered in oil. i was told that its because of the crank pulley throwing the oil onto the chassis.
