Hey.. i noticed my clutch is starting to slip in fourth gear. When im easy on the gas and then i go full throttle the rpms jump faster then the mph and then keeps up. Does anyone know what flywheel is compatable with the ca18det? I dont really want to spend 400 dollars to get a lightweight flywheel and i figured if im replacin the clutch might as well do the flywheel

you dont need to replace the flywheel unless your going with an aftermarket one. Infact unless yours is scored i wouldnt do anything other than hit it with some brake kleen and a clean rag

Before you do the clutch buy:

Rear main seal (Felpro) IIRC the CA is the same as the KA but dont hold me to that research it yourself
Clutch Kit (with pilot bushing and throwout bearing)

Chances are your rear main seal is leaking. this is the perfect time to do it. once your trans is off, take an impact and take off the 6 bolts holding the flywheel on. wiggle off ur flywheel its heavy and will crush your fingers.. itll hurt alot. dont let it fall on you. take a flathead skrewdriver and tap it into the space on the outer edge of the rear main seal. then leaver that side out (you'll have to repeat this a few times all around the seal). put the flywheel back on. usually you can tell if a flywheel is bad. If it looks burned its bad. If its surface is in anyway not flat its bad... mine was just fine with 144xxx miles on it so i just took some brake kleen and wiped it off. chances are yours should be fine but if its not dont just put it all back together. get another one because if yours is that bad youll be redoing the job sooner than you'll expect.

another thing the trans is a bitch to get back in... jack under the crank pulley. the best way is to honestly eat ur wheaties and muscle it back in... jack stands didnt help me at all...

o and while your at it replace the trans mount... while its not necessary your cars up on stands (which for me is a job all on its own) ur trans cross member is off (it makes the clutch job easier off) and the Nismo ones are on sale on mynismo.com 48.95 with free shipping... wish i had known saturday night when i did my clutch

I have serious AMMO.
If you want a lighter flywheel, take it to your local machine shop to take chunks of it and balance it for you for bout half that price. Lighter flywheel can make an engine less laggy and rev more freely :ohhyeah

flywheels should ALWAYS be machined when installing a new clutch. whether the flywheel is scored or not is irrelevant. trust me, you will be throwing away money by just slapping a new clutch on there. i had this problem with my RB, previous owner installed a spec stage 3 and never machined the flywheel, within a matter of months the clutch was destroyed and it was even verified by the guy who put my clutch in that the reason for the failure was because the flywheel wasnt machined.

trust me, dont slack off on things like this, do it the right way the first time or you really will pay for it later

I agree with above, a fresh surface is needed for proper break in.... and the chance of clutch chatter is much less.

just go with a stage 3 sprung. Mine is only the tiniest stiff than stock and it feels amazing. its not totally like an on off switch and with some practice you can shift smoothly just fine.
